REMINDER: Meet an Archaeologist TOMORROW Night!
Want to know what it’s like to be a professional archaeologist? How about the journey to get there?
Yeah? For realz? Well, you are in luck friends because tomorrow night you have the chance to hear from a local archaeologist and a PhD candidate.
First you will get to hear from our very own uOAS President, Sabrina Higgins! Following her BA in Classics at uOttawa, Sabrina went on to complete her MA in Archaeology at UBC before returning to uOttawa for her PhD. She has worked on five different projects in Greece, Bulgaria and Macedonia. She is currently the site supervisor for the excavations at Golemo Gradiste in Macedonia. The project is excavating a sixth century basilica.
Next, you will meet Dr Paul Thibaudeau, President and Owner of Intermesh Enterprises, an archaeology consulting firm. Dr Thibaudeau received his BA and MA in Anthropology at Carleton University followed by his PhD in the same field UofT. He is currently an adjunct professor at Carleton University. Read about one of his local projects here.
So make sure you are at The Royal Oak (in the basement) on Laurier starting at 7PM tomorrow night. Bring some questions with you and, heck, bring a pen and paper to take notes. But most of all bring your love for archaeology and your desire to go on this wonderful journey (sorry for the cheese, but I just could not help myself).
